Day 5 Omaha...hottest day of my life.

Today the Dirtbags had their first game and first win! They beat a team from Pensacola 5-1. We only played one game today and will only play one tomorrow. We play 3 on Thursday and 2-3 on Friday. Saturday begins single elimination, so hopefully we will be playing more than one that day.

After our game, we took off to Rosenblatt Stadium to watch a College World Series game. We were informed that we needed to be there AT LEAST 3 hours in advance to get into the game. Our informant was wrong. We stood in line for an hour and then waited 2 plus hours inside the stadium for the game to begin. I wish we would have known that we could have gotten there right when the game started and had NO problem getting in.

I LOVE baseball. I will sit and watch almost any game. BEFORE this game started, I was ready to go. It was hotter than you can possibly imagine. We naive Alabamians believed we were going to get a reprieve from the heat and humidity back in ole Alabam. NOSIR!! It was 95 today with a heat index of 108 during the game. The sun was right on us. We ended up tossing in the towel after the 4th inning when South Carolina was ahead 10-0. GO SEC!! My head was soaking wet, even Ford and David were ready to go.

After we all showered, we went to eat at a local catfish house with some other Dirtbags families. Great friends and company!! We have been shocked(not really) that these Nebraska folk don't sell sweet tea. C'mon!!

On the way home, AW was her tired cranky self. I don't blame her. We've pushed her sleep limits this trip with no naps and late bedtimes. So, the fit started. She wanted to go to the arcade with the boys and we were ready to leave. I heard Copeland coaching her in the back seat. It went something like this...
Cope: "Ann Welch, The Devil is inside you making you act like this. Make him get out."
Ann Welch: "ahhhhhh, yes he is."
Cope: "Well, who do you want to please? The Devil? Or God? Do you think Jesus got everything he wanted when he was a kid?"
Ann Welch: "ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"
Me: "Cope, give it up.."
Ann Welch: "ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"
